Have you ever felt exhausted and burnt out? I sure have.
As a Christian, I’ve experienced the dark side of church. Despite people’s claim to follow Christ, sometimes we fall short and can hurt each other considerably – whether intentionally or not. When it comes from the people who claim to love us, it hurts all the more.
Sometimes, we drift from following Jesus out of fear. None of us are immune. Even Peter, the great Apostle and early leader of the Christian faith, strayed from the right path out of fear. I believe this was the reason Paul confronts him in Galatians 2.
Whether by fear or not, when we add to or change the basic message of Jesus Christ, we can cause another person to stumble. We bring more hurt to a broken world.
As followers of Christ, let’s strive to return to the basic message of Christ:
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Matthew 22:37-39 ESV.
God bless.
